Dr. Ballagh has been actively involved in clinical research, serving as principal investigator or investigator in clinical trials for contraception, microbicides, menopause, endometriosis, osteoporosis, and other women's health concerns.  She has taken an active role in researching the technique of colposcopy for vaginal product development and has provided international training sessions for individuals involved in clinical trials of microbicides and spermacides.  Interested in life-long learning initiatives, she serves EVMS as assistant dean of Continuing Medical Education.  Dr. Ballagh received her B.A. with a double major in Spanish and Nutritional Counseling from the University of California at Los Angeles, an M.S. degree in nutrition from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, and an M.D. degree from Drew/University of California at Los Angeles. Her postgraduate training included a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and contraception at Los Angeles County and University of Southern California Medical Center. She has lectured extensively and published numerous articles, abstracts, and book chapters on contraception, reproductive health, hormone replacement, and other women's health topics.
